When It Comes to Cool Kitchens, Sometimes Less is More

By Admin In Interior Design No comments

If you are thinking about remodeling your kitchen, you may be overwhelmed with the choices available or consumed with trying to figure out how you’re going to fit all the amenities, custom cabinets, and gadgets into your existing space.

But sometimes in the kitchen, less is more. Figuring out what you really need for a functional kitchen and sticking with the bare essentials can sometimes lead you to more stylish look than a tricked out room with all the bells and whistles. If you aren’t going to be baking five or six things at once, do you really need double ovens? How many burners are you actually going to use prepping the same meal?

Consider the dishes, cookware, and appliances you have, and what you really need or use. You only need storage space enough to hold what you use all the time. If you have seasonal or occasional-use items you really can’t part with, consider storing these things elsewhere for a more streamlined, pared down look.

Opt for open shelving to display your prettiest cups, bowls, and dishes and let them do double duty as decor and dishware. Also, consider recessed or hidden undercabinet lighting to minimize clutter. To hide the ventilation system for the range hood, consider “shrouding” it in MDF painted the same color as the walls to mimic the look of a built-in piece of the room.
